Adenike M. Sicard has been practising law for almost 15 years in the British Virgin Islands, and is a partner and head of the Corporate and Commercial Department of HPA Lawyers. Adenike specialises in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including corporate restructuring, advising on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. She also has extensive legal experience in banking and finance, investment funds and regulatory law. She has prepared expert legal opinion on BVI corporate law to High Court proceedings in London. She regularly advises on compliance issues and the Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Laws and Regulations in the BVI. Adenike has also advised and assisted several BVI Companies in relation to listings on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
Adenike holds the position of Legal Chair of the BVI Association of Compliance Officers. She is a Member of the BVI Bar Association and served as a member of its Legal Education Committee in 2008.
She was an Event Speaker at the BVI FSC and CFATF - Joint Compliance Conference in 2013.
Adenike got involved, participated and completed the Advanced Certificate in International Arbitration conducted by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the BVI two years ago. She has advised on arbitration issues involving BVI companies.
Adenike is a Notary Public and Commissioner of Oaths in and for the British Virgin Islands.
She is also the founder of a local charity, Race For Charity, which organises 5k races (runs/walks) the proceeds of which are donated to charities.
